Hosea Kutako International

After a day travelling, mostly in the sky, we finally touch down in the dusty runway of Hosea Kutako Airport, Namibia's main international airport beside the capital Windhoek. Like many locations here it's current name replaces a name overwritten in the independence of 1990 when Namibia finally broke away from South Africa, which in turn had taken ownership of this corner of Africa from the British and then the Germans before that. There aren't many international airlines that have routes here and you could hardly say it was a busy airport. But I think this is a symptom not of anything negative, Namibia is known to be stunning and has been a peaceful nation for decades. They invented national reconciliation before Mandela. Instead Namibia has conservation at the heart of its constitution. They seek quality tourism that supports their environment over quantity.
