Lion Hut
Our ride to the conservation is dusty and very bumpy, somewhat reminiscent of our ride through the dusty back roads of Cypress. But the rattling metal on the hard road was a welcome change from the 15 hours of flight.
We are dropped off at the conservation and met by a coordinator who tells is we missed the main induction in the morning. Our booking agent should have had us arrive yesterday but seems like we didn't miss too much. We are driven to a series of small wooden framed canvas lodgings they call the Bushcamp and drop off our bags. Our cube hut is called Lion. This will be our place of sleep for one night before moving on. Our booking agent had somehow also forgotten to mention we were visiting two locations but the coordinator seemed happy to correct it. The hut is spacious and warm. Despite it being winter, daytime temperatures here are typical summers in England. Night time though can get cold and the canvas walls won't do much more than keep out the flies and wandering baboons. Out back is a small courtyard with an outdoor toilet and shower.
