Festung Hohensalzburg

And so we finally make it to the fortress, the Festung Hohensalzburg. It's impressive not least for the space around it. However you approach it always seems another path away, another set of stairs. The finally staircase was literally a step too far for us. We had neither the budget, the time or indeed the energy to get inside and see what is probably an entire day's visit on your feet. But I'd never really planned to go inside, only to see the immensity from outside. I just hope our journey here didn't sap any remaining energy to continue outside.
