Day 1: The Enterprise

Next to Pier 83 was the Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum. It wasn't really our thing with a load of fighter jets and military paraphernalia but they had some real space capsules that were impressive to see and, crucially, the Enterprise, one of the Space Shuttles. This one never made it into space but it was identical to the others. Sadly you couldn't go inside but it was great to get close to a true icon of 20th century space exploration. How they got it here I have no idea.

I should add that today it was a clear sunny day with a hot sun but Manhattan provides plenty of shade and although it was humid it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I'd feared or been led to believe. Maybe we've just been lucky.
