Day 2: Feet
I thought we'd try to get away from the Disneyesque brilliance of midtown and catch some real New York so we walked all the way to the East Village where our guidebook promised we'd find some interesting shops. However it turned out to be an intimidating dump. The shops were few but the hobos were plenty. We decided to escape by cab but after being ignored by all the cabs we found we gave up and walked across town but then had to rest in Washington Square Park because Katarina's feet had deteriorated. It seemed like the world was working against us when a bird flew over and pooped on Katarina's newly washed hair. It took quite an effort to get it out with the two tissues we had and our remaining water.
