Oslo Cathedral
We'd dropped in on the Cathedral last night walking past to the hotel, when, at that time, the area was lit up with memorial candles. We returned today to see again the piles of flowers, most now dead, but clearly added to continuously. Among the flowers are small toys and cards. Every single piece of grass around the Cathedral has been taken over by these memorials and it was all very moving, especially the occasional soft toys that sat alone among the sea of flowers. I'd added this Cathedral to my planned visit of Oslo before the bombing and was dubious it would make much of an impact; however, given these events it has transformed the area and also my attitude to this city and this country. It really doesn't make sense that something like this could happen in Oslo. Less so once you come here.
