From the top of St Peter's
Still groggy we got a taxi back into the Old Town and despite what I thought were clear instructions we were dropped off the wrong side of town and so I had to change my plans which brought us directly to the Church of St Peter, apparently the tallest viewing platform in the Baltic from a Church tower. In a first for us, this one has a lift, which luck would have it saved us from falling unconscious given our state of health and the number of stairs it would have taken. From the top, amost a large crowd squeezed into a very small space, made smaller thankfully by the generous guard rail, we saw a great view of Riga and its maze of tight passageways. We also saw rather a lot more of the backs of other tourists together with the occasional elbow and gentle shove against the railing. And it had finally stopped raining, for now.
