We made the long walk back to the hotel via a small bakery where we rested our throbbing feet and bought some small patries for pennies. We returned to the hotel for a short rest and set out again for our final Tallinn excursion to the TV tower built to support the Moscow Olympics in 1980. We took a bus from the central bus garage which was unfortunately another walk. Our walking didn't end when we arrived as the directions to the tower were non existent so we and another couple of tourists got lost on a path the wrong way where Katarina and I managed to get ravaged by mosquitos. We eventually got the right directions from a local and eventually made our way inside the tower. We were greeted by an elderly man at reception who informed us the tourist hours were over, it was 8.30pm, and only the restaurant was open. We had a slightly odd conversation until he agreed after a phone call to allow us up to the restaurant for 3 euros each. Fortunately, the route to the restaurant was through the observation deck which we had almostto ourselves for an hour as we lazed about among the recently refurbished interior scattered with large mushroom-shaped touch-screen panels that shifted position as you walked nearby. We did eventually make our way to the restaurant but whether it was the late hour or the exorbitant prices on the menu Katarina expressed a preference to return backto the hotel. We left for the bus where I managed to almost choke myself on a fly that flew into my mouth.
