Raining Riga
Thankfully after our taxi ride tothe hotel things got back on track and we were able to leave within an hour or so to head out for the old town for an initial peak on this, our bonus evening. That was until the heavens opened up to welcome us. In the dark, unfamiliar with the streets and with a map that was a little unclear, given we weren't in the heart of tourist Riga, I took a wrong turn and we ended up walking through 1km of car park to get to the old town, all the while holding our flimsy umbrellas against the wind. We did however get to walk through quite a bit of the old town, we just didn't see much from under our umbrellas. This was Riga Castle which doesn't really show up well anyway from ground level even in the sun. After satisfying ourselves that we tried our best we got a taxi back to the hotel for what turned out to be the last honest driver. Back at the hotel we ate the leftovers from lunch and crashed in bed as soon as we could.
