The walls
Okay we had better photos on our cameras but the sun seemed to be at the perfect angle for about two hours illuminating everything beautifully. So we thought we'd have a go on ourselves. Some of the wall is behind but we'll get better views. We climbed inside one up three narrow flights of stairs to a view of the local city. It was hear we suddenly got a video call. The Estonian mobile network delivered. I was impressed. Back down from the wall we read a sign post and discovered we were in Toompea, the modern day seat of government, but also where the Danes first established themselves some centuries ago. Quite a few civilisations have left there mark here. We didn't get to see any Soviet style municipal buildings but it was hardly a key objective. In any case today was just a wander. Tomorrow should be more structured. First impressions of Tallinn are...well...impressive.
