Strasbourg Cathedral: inside

And so we eventually returned to Strasbourg cathedral to go inside. It seemed at first there was a long queue outside but it was moving quickly as it was free entry and very quick bag checks. Inside had a simple beauty compared to the exterior and, in fact, for a massive gothic cathedral it was almost understated, especially when you consider the shock factor of coming upon the cathedral outside. We walked up and down the aisles many times among now quite a crowd which had picked up since we were his morning. All the while a voice was heard over the speaker saying "Ladies and gentlemen, shhhhhhhhhh". And the tourist chatter quietened.
