Strasbourg Cathedral: the tower
And what trip around Europe is complete without a ascending a tower of some sorts. And so we joined only a handful of people that still had enough energy to climb the narrow winding 332 steps to the viewing platform. I was grateful the spiral was actually reasonably wide so not claustrophobic or slippery. There was even enough room for someone to pass going down (for those who didn't realise there was a separate route down). Despite the heat it was bearable and at the top we even had somewhere to sit. The viewing platform however was only about 60% of the height. On the viewing platform was the remainder of the tower we couldn't climb but sat almost like a cathedral atop a cathedral, it's skeletal structure designed to withstand the winds at this height. We enjoyed a long rest.
