Appearances can be deceiving

This huge wall is what first brought our attention to the Hadrian's Library complex. However this particular ruin, the wall of a church, was much later but can't remember when, possible early middle ages. It wasn't entirely clear as the signage wasn't obvious and we didn't have a guide or even a detailed guidebook. But just enjoying the sights is what mattered we could read later. The photographs are what preserves that connection for us.
