The heart of the ancient world

Being at the centre of the ancient world Cyprus was conquered by every civilisation that ever crossed the Mediterranean. And so each and every culture has left it's mark, from Alexander the Great to the British Empire. These ruins in the backyard of the hotel may only be a couple of hundred years old, we had no idea, but they symbolise well how many layers of history are readily exposed wherever you look. Furthermore so little has been exploited for tourism. You feel with the right kind of investment Cyprus could be protected from the worst of modern tourism and still retain such a rich tapestry of cultures.
