Basilica
Unfortunately I was stopped from photographing as I entered but caught this before I even knew. Sadly many of the best locations didn't allow cameras. It wasn't St Paul's but it was impressive enough. Built at the end of the 17th Century this whole place was designed to be a mausoleum for the King's father. Knowing that spoils it a little as, come on, really? A nice pot of ashes on the mantlepiece wouldn't do? Clearly not, the almost bankrupt King once rolling in money from the Americas thought this was the suitable act of mourning. So be it, as it's stunning. And, as I've said, since this is aimed at elevating the other, it's more palatable. I wish I could post more from inside, including the dome roof.
