Roman port
Our next site was the ancient Roman port. This location is actually still close to the river but again we're underground. The remains here are much less well preserved but they've made extra efforts with graphics and video to conjure up images of 2,000 years ago. This view would actually be out between the two pillars of an arch that would look down over the river below. Here goods were brought up from the boats below. Just beyond this photo are the foundations that much have supported a very substantial building with three walls of concrete sandwiched together. The building above has gone but they reveal great detail of how it was built.
