Train station check in

Never had this before. We returned to that station with the rainforest although went to the station proper to catch our 9.30pm train. We first had to go through airport style security. Fortunately they were just looking for machetes and my 4cm penknife went unnoticed. We also had about a gallon of water but it wasn't that sort of security. We than had airport style boarding gates. Bizarre but oddly very reassuring, not just for safety but because you know where you are, have got the right train and your ticket is all good before you board (so they don't charge extra like they once did in Venice).
