Fatigue

Beyond the mausoleum were strolling halls, where the king walked with his children, with maps adorning the walls; a hall if war paintings celebrating the victories of the Bourbons. And then more rooms with work of more famous painters, including El Greco, Bosch and some key Spanish pieces. All enough to knacker your feet. One room had The Crucifixion by Rogier van der Wenden. Never heard of him and hardly a fan of all this religious iconography (including The Last Supper by Titian) but they had restored the colour and it reminded me that all these originals had so much more colour. Of course I've grown up on muted paintings so it seems odd and garish.
