Opera at the Opera

We'd planned to start the day with a visit to the monastery next door to our hotel and one of the main attractions of Madrid. Sadly it was closed on Mondays. A theme that became common throughout the day and also had me change tomorrow's plans too. So we began with a visit to the royal palace, which we'd originally planned for later. The palace is also round the corner from our hotel but we'd avoided it so far. This isn't the palace, it's the royal theatre. We didn't go inside, it's probably closed on Mondays anyway.
