The Rastro

So our first stop was in The Rastro, a huge open air market spread across many streets in what the guidebook described at the working class neighbourhood. Today is a Sunday and our itinerary is largely based on this fortunate timing. The market is only open today and we make the most by walking through stalls of clothing (a surprisingly large number of denim shorts), bags, leather goods, books and bric-a-brac (including stall that had old screws among its wares). Even an area dedicated to comics. We don't buy much but the idea was to soak up the atmosphere. I do however find a book of poetry. Like Camden it's stalls in every direction as far as the eye can see.
