Central courtyard

Arches are aplenty here and as you can see arches have arches. The Moorish stamp is very clear. After the Romans left Iberia, with their empire collapsing, various Gothic tribes ruled the peninsula until the Moors took over around the 9th century or thereabouts. For centuries the Christians tried to take over and after many battles and gradual progress the Moors were defeated all over by the 12th or 13th centuries. But like in Portugal, their Christian successors were heavily influenced by the styles of their predecessors. In Portugal that was more obvious all over but in Spain it's been more subtle. There's no subtlety of influence here.
