Diocletian's cellar
We entered the palace through the bronze gate and then down into the cellars, where shopping stalls are positioned between ancient Roman arches. This palace, built 1,600 years ago, is still in use today although not for the original purpose as a retirement villa for the emperor Diocletian. Everywhere you go the presence of Roman architecture is unmistakable. And the place is vast, perhaps one kilometer long, or more.
