Over the edge

Some of the slopes here disappear from view very quickly and it's difficult to know if you're approaching a cliff or a path around the nearest peak. With such loose ground underfoot I was little worried we'd just slip over the edge. Fortunately none were cliffs and I'd hope they wouldn't let you find out for yourself. I have no idea if Mount Triglav is visible here as either there were no sign posts or we missed them. Triglav, after which this national park is named, is the national symbol of Slovenia and their highest peak, present on their flag. I've read it is custom for every Slovenian to ascend Triglav at least once in their life. I don't know how many actually do. It's amazing to think though that this is part of the greater Alps mountain range that extends all across Italy, Austria, Switzerland and others. Slovenia, in so many ways, seems closer to the Europe we know than the Balkan countries further south. Is Slovenia even part of the Balkans? Apart from sharing language it seems strange this country became swallowed by Yugoslavia.
