Scatological joy

Eventually out search pays off and we find some hyena scat. It's that distinctive white from all the bones they consume. It's a huge reilef to find something, even if it's not as fresh as we'd all like. Apparently this poo is eaten by other animals, it's a rich source of calcium. It's just nature's way of recycling. And in case you can't see it, here's my worn hand pointing the way.

We spead out across the open plain and walk in a wide line in search of all we can find. Our efforts pay off once again and this time we find some tracks. This day is proving quite a bounty. At any other time in any other place these small impressions would mean nothing. Out here their the closest to gold dust.

Karl is letting nothing get away and pulls out his specimen bags. At long last, after days of searching in cold, wind and across relentless stones we can return with a sense of accomplishment.
