Desert dessert

And so we enter the desert proper. It is quite literally breathtaking. After days thinking the arid landscape around our camp was desert, we come here and you can't pull your eyes away. If we were feeling sleepy at all before arriving, we are now very awake. The deep red gives away their age. Formed by the iron in the sand these dunes would be millions of years old to be this rich in colour. Like most things in Namibia, they are old and this could be the oldest desert in the world, competing only with the Atacama in South America.
