Sossus Oasis

The road finally reaches the tourist entrance where a short queue of cars is forming and we are waved on. The Sossus Oasis is actually a luxury camp site and not our destination. But as we do leave the relative calm of the road we drive off into the sand. For about 10 minutes the car lurches from side to side, skids and slides as it battles the sand and drags us finally to a car park, or simply a gathering of parked vehicles. All around us the sand is marked by tire tracks and even a few trees.
