The oryx and the balloons

OK so I couldn't decide which I preferred, so you get two for the price of one. A balloon ride was a choice today but at a price we were not willing to pay. There's little doubt it would have been a spectacular site, but even if we had done a balloon, we would still have to do this, to ride to, and walk the dunes. And as we catch site of our first true sand dunes we also see the first of a few oryx on route. A specially adapted mammal, the oryx can go days, or even weeks, without a proper drink. Relying on water that forms on plants and even digging for roots, they are most likely sighted at dawn or dusk, hiding in the shade during the day. I read their horns have been known to kill lions.
