Game count

And so we climb back into a closed vehicle this time, armed with binoculars and a clipboard. Alongside camera traps, the next most zoological task we have is counting the wildlife. This is an important part of conservation because without knowledge of how many animals there are you can't possibly know what you're working with. We do these counts two or three times a week. They take about 2-3 hours and maybe 20km in a route designed to capture as much of the terrain as possible. Of course, for us it's also a chance just to gaze at the mountains. The geology still fasinates me. What activity creates a landscape like this?
