You know those exercise machines they have (never tried them myself) that simulate walking up steps, perhaps designed for a city of bungalows? Well that's what this feels like. You're walking uphill but it's sort of like a simulation, because unless you put your feet in the right place you sink and slide back to where you began. We were advised by Doug that to make your journey easier you must follow the footprints in front. Instead of sliding back, each print provides a more solid ledge upon which you can push up to the next. It takes a lot of concentration but with the right rhythm it becomes a lot easier. Unfrotunately, our concentration is frequently broken by the desire to look sideways. In the second photo here you can see the distant peak of Big Daddy. But it's deceptive. There's a long way to go and many more twists and turns before we get there.
