Wine tasting
Our first full day at this site was far from over. We had wine tasting organised. First we were given a small tour of the winery, including some of the dryest vinyards in the world (and one of only three in Namibia, I read). The proper winemaking went on inside the building but forgot to take any pictures there. The round pond you see is one of a few natural springs here - it refills each night, as though by magic, providing plentiful water despite the arid environment around. Wine tasking was accompanied by cheese and crackers. We stick to the crackers and dried fruit - and the wine of course. We're lucky here, because although they have accommodation for many more people, there's just five of us this week and we're getting on really well. We're all good friends by the end of this first day together.
