Valley of shadows

The sun hasn't risen far by the time we reach the valley and our shadows are still cast long in front of us. The photo here of Katarina to the right hides some of the perspective. We are approaching the steep drop into the valley, the steep climb that brought us back home yesterday. But where we were climbing up today and momentum was our friend, today we have to take more care as gravity wants to send us skating down on the crumbly broken slate that covers everything here. But given these rocks have been here for millions of years we probably don't have to worry that the whole lot will come tumbling down.
