Banya Bashi mosque

Again a little further on we arrived at our first significant tourist site, the mosque, which stands very proudly over the northern end of Sofia's main boulevard. But don't be mistaken for thinking this is one of many. Apparently this is the only functioning mosque in all of Sofia, or so I read. It was originally built in the 16th century quite early in the time this area fell under Ottoman rule.
