Old Town Bucharest

And this is a selection of photos of the old town where Bucharest really comes alive. Before this moment Bucharest was living down to my poor expectations and from what I'd read this was not a beautiful city. But once you get to the old town, despite neglect during communism and apparently an earthquake in 1977 it still has plenty to offer. It's beautiful. It's what Camden Town would love to be. We can't help but wander round the streets soaking it all up. Bucharest turned from being the ugliest I've seen to one of the prettiest. It's all far from well maintained but that also gives it some charm. I love it. And all around you see hipsters, well-dressed men in their long beards. They called this the Paris of Eastern Europe and you can see why - although I think many others could also claim that of course.
