And this is it. The number one sight of Bucharest. But also surely also it's greatest shame and embarrassment. Not that they had any choice. In the 80s the Caucescus built this stupidly huge palace of 1000+ rooms while huge swathes of the population starved. The palace was clearly a monstrosity in every single way. Three decades has done nothing for it. You can do a tour but we have better things to do. Surrounding it are more monolithic buildings, dead grass and a poorly maintained car park. How the hell do they maintain this building?It must be so impractical. They should let nature take over. But we did see it and it was number one on my list.
