Border patrol
It was back to the bus station for our trip back to Dubrovnik. The bus was due to leave at about 4pm meaning we could be back to see the sunset in Dubrovnik. However things didn't quite go according to plan. And I had read this was never a straightforward journey. The first hour was a slow ride around the whole winding bay around Kotor. This was the journey the driver avoided yesterday with the ferry trip. Today we did the whole route. It took me whole hour to drive round but we were blessed with spectacular views which helped to sum up the beauty of this whole region. Sadly beauty is not what defined the rest. It was another hour before we hit a stationary traffic jam. At first someone thought it was an accident but then it became clear when I looked on H map with GPS that we were near the border. It was another 2.5 hours before we made it through and it would have taken much longer if the driver hadn't jumped the queue many times, driving suicidally on the opposite side and then forcing his way into the traffic again when I car or bus or lorry was approaching. At one point I held on to my seat, bracing for impact as we went round a blind corner on the wrong side. It's crazy that this border has such controls but sadly trust is perhaps a long way off between these countries. Being British I can hardly complain. We also have strict border controls despite being in th EU. Sadly it turned a 2 hour journey into 5-6 hours.
