Stari Most selfie

Of course no trip to Mostar would be complete with paying some serious attention to the bridge. Built in the 16th century by the Ottomans it was a key way point in these parts, withstanding many key moments in history, including the second world war, until the wars of the 90s when the once allied Bosniaks and Croatian turned on each other and fired bombs at each other for two years, with Mostar's old town becoming no man's land. The bridge was destroyed by a very malicious round of artillery fire, offering no strategic benefit, just hatred. It was eventually rebuilt using the same techniques and stones from the same quarry. Today it is once again the star. But scars remain.
