Old Belgrade

In a booklet on the table in our suite was a description of some sights in Belgrade. I must admit it wasn't long but it did include what it described as Belgrade's oldest street which was just behind the hotel. So with a couple of hours spare and ours rooms held we went out exploring. It wasn't far and it wasn't very impressive and this was probably the oldest we could find in appearance apart from some ruins surrounded by a wire fence. They may had had significance but we didn't know. We walked around the block back to the hotel to continue back to the main boulevard. I'm probably being a little unfair on Belgrade here. We have spent such little time here and I suspect Belgrade's beauty is something more subtle that you don't find so easily on a top 10 list. It has the old Belgrade castle but elsewhere needs a little more assistance to appreciate it's significance or even to find.
